eine/n Besprechung/Termin anberaumen = the secretary set up/convened/lined up a meeting for this morning; I’ll ask my assistant to schedule/arrange/secure/lock in an appointment/make a booking with you

das Meeting findet wie geplant statt  = the meeting will go off as planned

wir beraten über die Projekteinzelheiten = let’s sit down/come together/huddle and discuss/kick around/toss around/hash out/flesh out the details of the proposal; the specifics are still being worked on  

zunächst kümmern wir uns um die Schwerpunkte der Tagesordnung/Agenda = first we will deal with/chase up the agenda’s top items

die Sekretärin hat sich auf das Meeting vorbereitet = the secretary did her homework for the meeting

sie macht sich ständig Notizen = she is always scribbling something on a piece of paper

diesmal steigt eine Elefantenrunde  = this time around a big-time/big ticket meeting with all big shots is supposed to take place; the high priests (of the corporation) are convening to share the gospel

ein Meeting/Spitzentreffen jagt das nächste = it’s meetings galore for the company’s top executives

heute werden wir einige Angelegenheiten beraten/thematisieren = on today’s agenda a few resolutions/proposals pitched/put forward/ advanced by the board of directors will be debated/addressed/considered/canvassed; today we also weigh a motion/proposition/proposal to discuss an operations downgrade; we will bring up the matter/subject of hiring outside experts on today’s meeting; our personnel department and the management team are set to wrestle/trade blows over the redundancies issue; kicking around/bouncing around a new bonus scheme is also on the radar; we will also bring up/address/spotlight/take on board the union’s concern over the cost of living; a memo covering the meeting’s key points will be circulated among staff; we need to brainstorm/spitball ways/options to achieve our goals/ purposes; OK, let's get to it; we should address this topic forthwith

mit einigen innovativen Vorschlägen versucht der/die neue Mitarbeiter/in, verkrustete Abläufe zu ändern = the new employee is fighting/standing his/her corner with a few innovative suggestions to change entrenched operational procedures

in diesen regelmäßigen Meetings hört man immer die gleichen Parolen/Phrasen = in those regular meetings our bosses usually recite the same old proverbs/repeat the typical nursery rhyme(s) and fairytale(s)

es ist immer die gleiche Leier = it’s always the same song and dance

bei Sitzungen sind oft einige gelangweilte Teilnehmer dabei, die mit ihren Handys daddeln =  at meetings there are usually a few bored attendees fiddling with/scrolling through their phones

 bei der Behandlung von kniffligen Angelegenheiten ist die Stimmung angespannt  = the meeting grew tense when sticky/controversial issues were dealt with; lots of doubts clouded yesterday’s meeting 

nach dem stürmischen Meeting hat sich die Lage beruhigt = after the stormy meeting some ruffled feathers were smoothed

die Topetage geht auf Klausurtagung = our exec team is retreating/going into seclusion to hold a caucus meeting/summit 

es machen nicht alle Vorstände mit = some executives refused to follow the script/did not adhere to the proposed plan

einige Mitarbeiter stemmen sich gegen die Maßnahme  = a few employees came out against/cried foul at the decision/resolution/ proposition

ich überlege, ob ich auf das Meeting verzichte/es absichtlich sausen lasse =  I’m thinking of giving the meeting a miss/snubbing/blowing off/skipping the meeting on purpose/deliberately  

die Maßnahme wird sicherlich Zustimmung finden, weil es nur eine reine Formalität ist = the measure/move is certain to be approved as it is regarded as a mere formality

man kann immer Brauchbares aus Besprechungen mitnehmen  = there are always useful hints/inputs to take away/take out/reap/harvest from meetings 

man hat sich einigen können  = the hatchet over the minimum wage dispute was buried

das Meeting ging ohne Aufregung über die Bühne  = the meeting ended with a whimper/without any distractions

der Finanzdirektor führte das Meeting = the CFO presided over the meeting

es tut mir leid, aber der Jour-fixe wird abgesagt  = sorry guys, but we have to call off/adjourn/cancel our regular weekly get-together/ reunion

der Termin platzt = the meeting has been cancelled/scuttled/scrubbed/called off

einige Themen wurden hinter den Kulissen besprochen  = some topics were also debated/discussed/canvassed on the sidelines of the meeting

Unruhestifter sind von der Polizei aus dem Saal verwiesen worden = loud hecklers were escorted out of the premises by police/law enforcement officers
