die Nation ist gespalten bei der Suche nach geeignetem Standort für das Atommüllendlager, außerdem könnte es für den Steuerzahler sehr teuer werden = the nation is divided over the site/location for an adequate nuclear waste dump facility; the public could be left with a big clean-up bill after the nuclear reactors reach the end of their life
