wir/die Jungs müssen eine gute Leistung/alles abrufen = we need to go out and perform/come out with a lot energy/grit/hustle; we need to dig deep; you’ve got to put up a fight; you guys have to go all out; guys have to remain focused every single second of the game; we’ve got to give it our best shot/ effort; guys need to go out and compete at the highest level; we’ve got/have to bring/play our best ”A” game; you’ve gotta put your best foot forward tonight; we’ve got to bring it (out) every game/night/weekend/consistently; presence of family brings out/ elicits the best in player; player puts out a lot of energy; we need to lift/elevate our game a lot/as much as we can; tonight we have to take care of/handle one’s business; we should strive for perfection/have to deliver every night
heute Abend wird von unserer Mannschaft alles abverlangt = squad has to step up; team will have to pull out all stops to win tonight’s match; we need all hands on deck for the deciding game; we’ve got to come out ready to fight even if we get our mouth/nose bloody; we need to summon all our skill/grit/force/character and leave no stone unturned; everybody must dig in/dig deep; we have to work our tails/ butts off; team needs to ramp up its intensity and physicality; player loves being out there to give his all; this game should bring the absolute best out of us/all players; we need to bottle the energy; tonight we have to double down on our offense
alles raushauen, lautet die Devise = the message is to play with a sense of urgency from the beginning/kick off/tip-off/the go; players are fresh and ready to roll; this afternoon/tonight it’s a do-or-die battle; we have to play the game with purpose; after having lost eight games in a row team comes out desperate/with a tremendous sense of urgency/with a mindset “let’s get the job done”

Mannschaft hat mit vollem Einsatz gespielt = team showed a lot of grit and gave the opponent all they could handle; team dug in when the going got tough; coach demands grit from players; we need to push the pace; it’s crunch time now; team managed to outhustle the opponent; player made it tough and contested every shot and pass; player went after every loose ball; team didn’t play pretty, but it/they won the game, the scrap, the grit, the dirty work ; it was a hell/a whale of an effort by the team tonight; we went out there and competed our butts off; we competed like crazy

Mannschaft tritt mit positiver Einstellung/Körpersprache auf = team is now playing with the right mindset; we have to get our minds right; we need mental toughness/mental fortitude/to come into a game with a mentality to attack/with an aggressive mindset; player displays positive body language on the field/court every time; right now team is playing with focus and attitude

um gute Leistungen zu erbringen, müssen Spieler die richtige Körpersprache an den Tag legen = teams/players must have the right mindset/attitude/mind frame to perform well; mental stamina/positive body language has a huge impact on an athlete’s performance/skills /attitude; we have to play with a show-up mentality

Mannschaft soll jetzt nicht schleifen/locker lassen = team is starting to coast/shirk/loaf/lay down; don’t get/become complacent/lax lackadaisical/comfortable/disinterested/sloppy; team should quit winging it/just going through the motions; make sure not to have a mental letdown; don’t relent against sloppy/weaker opponents; we shouldn't play with a fat-cat mentality; there is too much complacency/ casualness to the team’s approach; team is mentally/physically fatigued; don’t let your guard down; sloppy play came back to hurt the team; after building a big lead in the first half the team coasted the rest of the game/way; team just let up and got comfortable with the lead; don’t get fooled into complacency; players just cruise/coast; forget “nice game”and stop playing loosey-goosey; make sure you cut the cute from the game; in the second half we got kind of lax in our approach and allowed opponent to get back in the game rather quickly; team shouldn't let down late in the game; we’ve got to stay locked in

wir haben die zweite Halbzeit verschlafen = we looked asleep/looked dead/played dead the first thirty minutes of the game/in the second half; team had a sleepy second half; with a two-goal lead we just coasted/relaxed in the second half; team began to lose its focus in the second half/third quarter
die miese Laune von einem Spieler soll nicht auf andere übertragen werden = player’s poor attitude should’t brush off/rub off on other teammates/sidekicks
Mannschaft muss sich wieder fangen/aufraffen = it’s time we picked ourselves up/we regrouped; player let his team down but he will surely bounce back/pick himself up after this humiliating loss; we need to put it together at both ends of the field/pitch/floor

Trainer fördert Teamgeist, schweißt Mannschaft zusammen = coach puts through a “bonding” or “truth” session where individuals address the squad about performance in losses; coach and team management stage a team bonding camp to bolster team spirit and forge closer bonds among teammates; team has jelled quickly with the new players; players should push/challenge each other to improve their efforts; coach focuses on forging/strengthening bonds among players; players learn to sacrifice for the sake of chemistry/team-playing; we’ve been sticking together and communicating with each other pretty well; we need to lean/rely on each other; we need to bring our group together; guys are sticking up for their mates; we aim to be a team that’s locked in as a group; team chemistry must come together
