FANTASIE

man fühlt sich gut, wenn man seiner Fantasie freien Lauf lässt   = you feel upbeat when you give free rein to your own imagination; he gets inflamed with his own creative juices; fantasies/dreams do come true; reading books makes people stir/ignite their own imagination

ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass sein Plan/Idee durchkommt =  by any stretch of the imagination I don’t think his plan will succeed; it is not much a leap of the imagination to assume that the idea he is entertaining/putting forward will not be greenlighted by the company’s management 

Dichter können geschickt die Fantasie anderer Menschen beeinflussen = poets are adept at acting out peoples’ fantasy

es ist nicht leicht, Fantasien ins richtige Leben zu übertragen = some people have a hard time trying to translate their fantasies to real life 

dies ist ein Wunschkonzert/frommer Wunsch/Zukunftsmusik = that’s pie in the sky/just a pipe dream/wishful thinking/a flight of fancy 

stell dir Folgendes vor: du verbringst deinen Silvesterabend in einer komfortablen Luxussuite mit atemberaubendem Panoramablick auf die Skyline der Stadt, hast ein Glas Champagner in der Hand, während du gemächlich die Stunden bis zum Jahreswechsel herunterzählst. Ein Traum wird wahr? Lehrer sollen die Kreativität ihrer Schüller anspornen = school teachers are supposed to encourage/fire their students’ imagination/ inventiveness

Schulen sollten so konzipiert sein, dass sie das Talent bei Kindern fördern = schools should be designed to make talented children`s ingenuity flow; teachers should let kids indulge in fantasy 

Eltern sollten die Fantasie ihrer Sprösslinge nicht ausbremsen = parents shouldn’t dull the fantasy/inhibit/hold the line on the imagination of their children     

manchmal müssen Eltern doch ihre Kinder ausbremsen =  sometimes parents do  have to temper/put the skids on/hold the line on their kids’ activities/enthusiasm
