ZUKUNFT 

wir müssen unser Treffen auf den/bis zum Sankt-Nimmerleins-Tag verschieben; nie und nimmer würde ich mit dir ausgehen; diesen Job wird sie nie und nimmer kriegen = I’ll date you when hell freezes over/on a cold day in hell/when pigs fly; she hasn’t got a snowball’s chance in hell of getting this job 

die Fertigstellung ist voraussichtlich für Anfang nächsten Jahres/(Datum) terminiert = we anticipate completing/finishing the buiding by early next year; the project is on track/expected to be completed next month; we have tentative/preliminary plans to finish the construction works in about six months from now; the new terminal concourse looks set to be finalized this month; chances are (that) a date for the opening of the new train station will be set in the coming weeks

voraussichtlich (im Sinne von “wenn nichts dazwischen kommt”) wird das Projekt ab jetzt in zwei Monaten fertiggestellt  = barring any unforeseen circumstances we'll wind up/complete the project in two months from now

das Projekt wird nun einige Wochen früher abgeschlossen  = completion date for the project has been brought/pushed forward by a few weeks

das Eröffnungsdatum des neuen Freizeitzentrums wird auf den nächsten Monat verschoben = opening of the new recreational facility will be pushed back to next month

zukunftsorientierte Konzerne/Personen sind meistens erfolgreicher = forward-looking corporations/individuals have better chances of succeeding in today’s business world; scientific institutions are at the forefront of championing forward-thinking/forward-focused issues/ ideas/policies; the mining giant is forging/developing a “future ready” or “shaping the future” strategy; regarding climate change people need to think ahead/to have more forethought in order to achieve outcomes

heutzutage stellen große Konzerne sicher, dass ihre Erzeugnisse auch in der Zukunft bestand haben  = nowadays large corporations are always intent/bent on future-proofing new concepts/applications/products

für viele Vereine/Branchen ist die Zukunft unsicher/ungewiss; für den Verein/das Unternehmen ist die Messe noch nicht gelesen = the club’s future is hanging in the balance/remains trapped in limbo; the club is living on a prayer; the future of many industries is under a cloud; the future of the venture/mutual project is up in the air; the jury is still out on the fate of the company; clouds loom over the banking community/fraternity; the financial crisis casts doubt on/over our company’s future

es steht in den Sternen, wer der/die nächste Bundeskanzler/in sein wird = it’s anybody’s guess who will be the next prime minister

in absehbarer Zeit/in der Zukunft/in der Folge wird es wärmer = going forward/moving forward/down the road it’ll get warmer

in etwa fünf Jahren = five years down the track/five years on

sie wird ihn ewig/für immer lieben = she will love him till the end of time/forever and a day

dies könnte ewig und drei Tage dauern = this could take forever and a day 

unsere Zukunft hängt in der Schwebe; wir wissen nicht, wie es weiter geht/was uns bevor steht = right now our future is stuck/trapped in limbo; we are wading into uncharted waters; the uncertainty of what lies ahead affects/impacts all individuals living on the planet; the corporation should engage in some needed soul-searching about its future 

Wo soll die Reise hingehen? = Where are we/is our company headed?; right now we are/our company is at a crossroads; Where do we go from here? What will/does the future hold/bring/look like for us? Where are things headed?; nobody knows what’s in store/in the offing/on the horizon for us/our company; What will this year/the future hold for us? What do we want this corporation to look like five or ten years from now? 

stell dir mal vor, dies würde dir passieren = imagine/figure this had happened/would happen to you

es passieren schon merkwürdige Sachen = two similar accidents happening at the same time is a spooky coincidence; that event weirded me out 

einmal sich in die Zukunft versetzen und dann sich die Erde in 100 Jahren vorstellen = flash forward/fast-track 100 years to the future and try to imagine/figure how the Earth will look like
