das Comeback/die Aufholjagd ist gelungen = team turned the game around/fought back/battled back; team managed to roar/storm back after climbing out of an early 22-point/3 goal hole; team shook off a wretched start/managed to return from the ashes/emerged from mediocrity; team made/staged/mounted a spirited comeback/ rally; they finally awaked from a first-half slumber and climbed back into the game; that was the play that put the team back on its heels/ feet;  team resurrected/gathered itself/themselves in the 2nd quarter/2nd half; team rallied from slumber; team eventually/finally got its/ their act together; team came out of the woods and is back in the flow; player turns the tables/tide for team; we did get over the hump; player led them back into the game; squad digs down and manages to take the wind of the opponent’s sails; team came alive and shook off the slumber; team wrote one more chapter to an improbable comeback story; player has a bounce back game as spectacular goal is the story of the game; sensational goal turned/flipped the match on its head; team gets its mojo back in the second half and ends up winning the game; team kind of flipped the switch and became the aggressor with a total attack mindset; that great move/play seemed to have opened up the floodgates for the team’s comeback

nach dieser rabenschwarzen Nacht müssen wir uns bessern = team needs to shake off the sting of a horrendous showing/performance in its last game/outing; next week in our stadium we promise that the shoe will be on the other foot;
